Dark Days

One of the greatest things about living in the United States is that there is oppurtuntiy for everyone to succeed in life. Although I was a bit surprised in seeing at how the people in "Drak Days" actually lived, my initial belief still stands. We live in a nation where if you really want to, you could make it. No one has ever said that to become a succseful person you have to attend private school, the best colleges and own expnsive things. We live in a nation that offers free education, and oppurtunites for all its students. Yes, not everyone has the same living conditions, and many people are far worse off than others, but if you really want to, if you have that drive, and that determination, you can make something of yourself, no matter where you live or what your financial status is. In the movie "Dark Days," the characters are indeed poor, and say that they want to move up from their "homeless" status, but yet some of them constantly do drugs, and don't do much to help themsleves. How can you expect to make something of yourself, to better your life, if you won't even help yourself?

I agree with you when you say that some people want to get to a better place for themselves, but they continue to do drugs. However, I don't believe that have everyone always have the same opportunies. Sometimes people will have to work twice as hard as someone else to get the same opportunities.
